On April 19, the delegation led by the NA Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan took part in the works of the IPA CIS 49th Plenary Session.
The delegations of the CIS Members States debated and approved the draft laws of a number of model laws and codes included in the agenda of the session.
The Chairman of the IPA CIS Permanent Commission on Economy and Finance, the RA NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Varazdat Karapetyan, as a key speaker, presented for approval the draft laws of the model laws on Tax Administration, on Inner Water Transport and Price Formation.
At the end of the Plenary Session the Speaker of the National Assembly took part in the press conference organized with the participation of the Heads of the Member States’ Parliaments.
In response to the journalist’s question, Ararat Mirzoyan has noted that it is for the first time he takes part as Speaker of the National Assembly in the works of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and can confidently express conviction that he is pleased with the works of the sitting. According to the Head of the Parliament, the IPA CIS is a very effective platform for the development of cooperation between the parliaments of the Member States, a platform where it is possible to debate and make decisions on the political, humanitarian, economic and other items. Ararat Mirzoyan has expressed conviction that the Armenian MPs actively take part in the works of the IPA CIS and make their contribution to the development of the structure, particularly in the elaboration process of the model legislation.
In response to the question on the work of the IPA CIS missions implementing observation mission in the ongoing elections in the Member States, Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the snap parliamentary elections held on 9 December 2018 by a great number of international authoritative observation missions and assessed fully free, fair and transparent. According to the Head of the legislative body, the IPA CIS Observation Mission has made a very appraisable and important work. According to Ararat Mirzoyan, the Member States should keep at their centre of attention the ongoing electoral processes.
On the same day later the meeting of the Speaker of the National Assembly is designed with the representatives of the Armenian community of Saint Petersburg.
